"After brief diversions to the fortepiano in vol. 11 and 13, he (Miklos Spanyi) returns here to the special-sounding clavichord he used in three of the earlier CDs, namely the 'facsimile of the Leipzig Gottfried Joseph Horn (1785) made by Joris Potvlieghe. I remember being impressed by this clavichord when listening to Volume 10, and this recording does nothing to dispel my initial impression. Its sound is complex, throaty, even brittle in a pleasant way, and matches the music perfectly."
